Antique Black Lacquer Chinoiserie Bow-Front Corner Cabinet on Stand

A decorative bow-front corner cabinet on a raised stand, with painted Chinoiserie landscapes, a blue interior and a decorated lower shelf.

An impressive antique Chinoiserie corner cabinet on a raised stand, featuring richly detailed hand-painted decoration against a deep black lacquer-style ground.

The elegant bow-fronted cabinet is decorated with an elaborate Oriental-inspired landscape depicting birds, flowers, trees, figures and a bridge, picked out in warm gold, ochre and muted green tones.

Two curved doors open to reveal a contrasting blue-painted interior with shaped corner shelves, providing practical storage for ceramics, glassware or decorative collections.

The cabinet stands on a tall, slender base with decorative shaped aprons and a beautifully painted lower corner shelf featuring floral and vase motifs.

With its striking silhouette and richly illustrated surfaces, this is an exceptional decorative statement piece for a period home, eclectic interior or carefully curated contemporary space.

The cabinet is in the Georgian Chinoiserie tradition, although its precise date and the originality of the stand have not yet been independently verified.
