A traditional Ercol sideboard with a sanded-back solid elm top contrasting with its darker cabinet, two drawers and shelved cupboard storage.

Vintage Ercol Elm Sideboard | Old Colonial Dark Wood Cupboard & Drawer Cabinet

A characterful vintage Ercol sideboard, featuring a beautifully contrasting solid elm top that has been sanded back to reveal the timber’s warm natural colour and prominent grain.

This is one of Ercol’s more traditional designs, with a substantial dark-stained cabinet body, panelled cupboard doors and decorative moulded detailing. The lighter elm top provides a particularly attractive contrast and shows off the distinctive figuring associated with Ercol elm furniture.

Storage is excellent, comprising two upper drawers above a pair of generously sized cupboards. Internally, the cupboard provides useful shelved storage, making this a versatile piece for dining ware, linens, drinks or general household storage.

The visible pegged construction of the elm top, rounded corners, turned wooden drawer knobs and decorative cupboard hardware give the piece plenty of period character.

Condition

Good vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with previous use.

The elm top has been sanded back, exposing the attractive natural grain and creating a lighter contrast against the darker cabinet. The main body retains its aged dark finish with various minor marks, knocks, scratches and areas of wear that contribute to its vintage character.

The drawers, cupboards and internal storage remain functional. Please refer closely to the photographs for condition.
