A beautifully proportioned mid-century teak extending dining table by McIntosh of Kirkcaldy, featuring an integrated butterfly extension leaf and an elegant sculptural base.

The table has a wonderfully restrained Scandinavian-influenced profile, with a richly figured teak top, gently curved ends and beautifully shaped legs that flow into the supporting frame. The relatively narrow 83.5cm depth gives it a particularly elegant appearance and makes it practical for spaces where a wider dining table can feel imposing.

At its standard length of 147.5cm, it provides a comfortable everyday dining table. The centre opens to reveal the self-storing butterfly leaf, increasing the overall length to 193cm when additional seating is required. There is no separate extension leaf to store.

A superb example of practical British mid-century design, combining McIntosh’s characteristic teak construction with a very usable extending mechanism.

Condition

Good vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with an original mid-century dining table.

The teak retains an attractive warm colour and prominent grain. There are signs of previous use and some variation to the finish, particularly visible under certain lighting, together with minor marks and wear around the edges and frame. The butterfly extension remains present and allows the table to be used at both lengths.
