A decorative dome-top travelling trunk with a crocodile-effect covering, timber reinforcing bands and aged brass/copper-toned metalwork.

A wonderfully decorative vintage dome-top storage trunk, finished in a richly textured crocodile-effect covering with an abundance of aged metalwork and a classic old-world travelling chest appearance.

The trunk features a curved “pirate chest” style lid, timber strengthening bands with large stud detailing, dark metal straps and corner mounts, alongside contrasting brass/copper-toned edging and plates. The front retains its substantial central lock fitting with two additional catches, while carrying handles are positioned to the sides.

Opening the trunk reveals its original striped paper-lined interior with decorative printed borders to the underside of the lid. The interior is heavily aged, adding to the wonderfully timeworn character of the piece.

A particularly striking decorative trunk that works beautifully as a blanket box, bedroom storage chest, prop, display piece or statement living-room storage.

Condition

Good decorative vintage condition with substantial age-related wear and patina throughout.

The exterior displays rubbing, scratches, marks, oxidation and tarnishing to the metalwork, alongside wear to the crocodile-effect covering. The original interior lining has significant staining, discolouration, tears and areas of loss, particularly around the edges.

These signs of use contribute considerably to the trunk’s aged travelling-chest character. Please refer closely to the photographs.
