The deep gloss brown finish gives it a warmer, more decorative appearance than a conventional office lamp, while the white-painted shade interior helps reflect the light effectively. A black rocker switch is positioned directly on the circular base for easy operation.

It works particularly well as a desk lamp, bedside light, reading lamp or compact accent light, and has all the understated utilitarian character associated with Italian lighting of the period.
