This striking upcycled lamp began life as a 1950s Lloyd Metcalfe butane space heater and has been thoughtfully reworked into a highly characterful table or floor lamp. With its sculptural Art Deco–influenced form, large parabolic silvered reflector and bold yellow base, it’s an unapologetically playful piece that bridges mid-century industrial design and decorative lighting.

The original heater silhouette has been preserved, allowing the design to shine exactly as intended, while modern electrics make it practical for everyday use. It works beautifully as a statement accent light, particularly when paired with a warm amber or low-temperature LED filament bulb.

A genuinely eye-catching object that feels both nostalgic and fresh — ideal for interiors that lean toward eclectic, post-war, or playful modernism.

Condition

The heater body is in excellent vintage condition and has been carefully cleaned and polished. There are some light scuffs and marks to the silvered surfaces and reflector, consistent with age, which enhance the reflective character and authenticity of the piece. Overall presentation is very strong.

Styling Notes
